SEMARNAT: Digitalización y simplificación de trámites

A partir del 19 de mayo de 2025, la tramitación de solicitudes de permisos, registros y constancias ante la Secretaría de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (“SEMARNAT“) deberá hacerse a través de nuevos formatos.

Mediante el Acuerdo emitido por la titular de la SEMARNAT y publicado en el Diario Oficial de la Federación el día 24 de abril de 2025, se:

• Expiden nuevos formatos. Se modifican formatos de diversos trámites de impacto ambiental, forestales, de residuos peligrosos y remediación de sitios contaminados, se expide a su vez uno nuevo para el Aviso de combustión a cielo abierto.
• Habilitan correos para la comunicación con las oficinas de representación de la SEMARNAT en los estados, para ejercer el derecho a recibir notificaciones por correo electrónico. Con ello se espera mejorar la comunicación entre autoridad y gobernados, agilizando los plazos de respuesta.
• Permitirá que la entrega de algunos documentos relativos a la constitución y representación de sociedades pueda hacerse en forma electrónica, a través de dispositivos USB, facilitando la gestión de los trámites correspondientes.

Los trámites que estén en curso pueden beneficiarse de la simplificación, a través de la recepción de notificaciones electrónicas, siempre que lo soliciten expresamente.

SEMARNAT: Digitization and simplification of permitting

As of May 19, 2025, the processing of applications for permits, registrations, and certificates before the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (“SEMARNAT”) must be done through new formats.

By means of the Agreement issued by the head of SEMARNAT and published in the Official Gazette of the Federation on April 24, 2025:

• New forms are issued. The application formats of several environmental impact, forestry, hazardous waste, and contaminated sites remediation procedures are modified, and a new one is issued for the Notice of open-air combustion.
• Emails are enabled for communication with SEMARNAT’s state representative offices, to exercise the right to receive notifications by email. This is expected to improve communication between the authority and users, shortening response periods.
• The presentation of some documents related to the incorporation and representation of companies may be done electronically, through USB devices, facilitating the management of the corresponding procedures.

The filings of applications in progress may benefit from the simplification, through the receipt of electronic notifications, provided that they expressly request it.
