Tom is of counsel at Nader, Hayaux & Goebel and specializes in cross-border and domestic mergers & acquisitions, project financing and development, and structured financing transactions. Having held influential leadership roles in prominent organizations, his extensive experience includes leading complex cross-border transactions, advising on high-stakes infrastructure projects, and driving strategic initiatives on global matters.
Based on his recent experience as a regional general counsel of a global asset management firm and his prior experience in private practice in the US and Mexico, Tom has an in-depth knowledge of the infrastructure, energy, and real estate industries. He has many years’ experience negotiating offtake, EPC, and operation and maintenance agreements for energy and infrastructure projects. In addition, he has served as a member and secretary of the boards of directors of several companies, including publicly-listed entities.
Tom led some of the first acquisition transactions with representation and warranty insurance in Latin America in industries and sectors such as airports, toll roads, and natural-gas pipelines.
He has been included in the GC Powerlist for Latin America Private Equity and the GC Powerlist for Mexico by The Legal 500. Tom has also been recognized as a “Rising Star” in Energy & Natural Resources, Corporate and M&A, and Project Finance.
He has written various chapters and articles for legal and industry books and magazines, given speeches at industry and academic events, and is regularly interviewed and cited by the Mexican news media.
Tom received his Juris Doctor degree from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law (with honors). He received his Mexican law degree from the Escuela Libre de Derecho (with honors).
Tom is a native speaker of English and Spanish and is fluent in German.
