Javier specializes in project finance and public-private partnership, restructuring and insolvency, real estate and asset-based financing. In addition, he has developed a specialized practice in aviation financing, mainly representing financial institutions.
Javier’s practice in infrastructure and projects has focused on public-private partnerships, where he has participated in structuring, development and financing, of infrastructure projects, advising government agencies, banks, funds and developers in industries as varied as social infrastructure, energy and natural resources, roads and water projects.
Javier is an important member of the restructuring and insolvency practice of the firm and has over 15 years of experience, mainly representing creditors. Javier is actively involved in asset-based financing. He has an outstanding track record representing lenders in large real estate financing; as well as guarantors, lenders and lessors in commercial and corporate aircraft financing and leasing.
Javier has been recognized by the main publications of the legal environment for his exceptional ability and experience. Chambers Latin America has cataloged him as a leader in the areas of Aviation, Projects, and Banking and Finance and is recommended by different clients who emphasize “He is a great facilitator with a deep understanding of legal and business issues”. Javier speaks fluent English, worked for one year Mayer Brown LLP, in the city of New York. He obtained his Law degree (graduating with honors) at the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM) and obtained a Diploma in Commercial Law (with honors) from Universidad Panamericana. In addition, he studied law at the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law in Chicago (with honors) and received a diploma in Management from J.L. Kellogg School of Management. Javier actively participates as a speaker in national and international forums and is also the author of several articles in his fields. Javier is a fellow of the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers.
