Alejandro specializes in economic competition law and has extensive experience advising various companies in this field. Throughout his career, he has provided counsel to clients in numerous merger notification procedures, investigations on abuse of dominant position, and both absolute and relative anticompetitive practices, as well as in procedures followed in the form of litigation. He has also developed compliance and prevention programs in economic competition for several companies. Alejandro was part of the legal team at the now-defunct Federal Economic Competition Commission of Mexico.
In addition, he focuses his practice on compliance matters, particularly those related to corruption in economic competition, with a special emphasis on investigations into potential violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). He also provides anti-corruption consulting and training. Furthermore, he has extensive experience in corporate matters, representing foreign companies in Mexico in corporate decision-making.
Alejandro is a member of organizations such as the International Chamber of Commerce, where he serves as Vice President of the Federal Economic Competition Commission. He is also a member of the Mexico-United States Chamber of Commerce and the American Bar Association. Additionally, he is actively involved in nonprofit organizations, providing pro bono legal advice and consulting to the Consejo de la Comunicación de México, where he holds the position of Secretary.
Alejandro obtained his law degree from Universidad Latinoamericana and his master’s in international business law from the Queen Mary School of the University of London. He pursued further studies in competition law at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) and The College of Law of England and Wales.
He is currently the head of the Economic Competition Department in the Master of Laws (LL.M.) program at Universidad Anáhuac México.
